What does the Salesforce Sharepoint Integration do?
The integration connects your Sharepoint Online directly to Salesforce, allowing you to
manage Sharepoint files without leaving Salesforce. Key features include:
- Files are stored in Sharepoint, not Salesforce, ensuring they do not contribute to
Salesforce storage limits. - A built-in folder structure mirrors Salesforce logic for easy organization.
- Files open in the Sharepoint environment, enabling full use of Microsoft Office
collaboration tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). - Changes made to files are saved directly to Sharepoint.
How does the integration determine folder structure?
The integration uses Salesforce logic to structure folders in Sharepoint:
- The root folder corresponds to the Account in Salesforce (e.g.”Mars Inc.”).
- Subfolders are automatically created for objects related to the Account.
- If a folder with the relevant name exists in Sharepoint, it links to it; otherwise, a new
folder is created in the root location.
What folder functionalities are available?
The integration provides several folder management features:
- Creating a Folder: Easily create folders directly within the Sharepoint component.
New folders are immediately visible in Sharepoint. - Renaming a Folder: Rename folders seamlessly. Changes are applied directly to
Sharepoint. - Pinning a Folder: Link a different folder to a Salesforce account by pinning it. The
pinned folder will be displayed by default when accessing the account.
How do file downloads and deletions work?
- Downloading Files: Files can be downloaded from Sharepoint to your local device
using the integration. - Deleting Files: Deleting a file through the integration removes it from both Salesforce
and Sharepoint simultaneously.
What are the collaboration features available for files?
When a file is opened via Salesforce:
- It opens in the Sharepoint environment.
- You can use Microsoft Office tools for real-time collaboration.
- Changes are saved directly to Sharepoint, ensuring up-to-date versions are always
available and old versions can be restored on the Sharepoint server.
Can I use the integration with all Salesforce objects?
Yes, the Sharepoint component can be added to any Salesforce object. The integration
ensures automatic linking or creation of folders based on the object’s name and relationship
to other Salesforce data.
Are multiple Sharepoint sites supported?
Yes, this is included in the Enterprise package
How does file migration work?
Our support team can help you to move all existing Salesforce files to Sharepoint all at once
while respecting the account and folder structure. With Enterprise this is part of the standard
service.
Are all files supported?
Yes, there are no limitations to the file types that can be synced.
